Here is Barn Owl Study No 2 in oils (from my own ref) - I am so pleased with this one. I just loved losing myself in all the detail of the feathers!
I think that this is a male barn owl - the females tend to have more spotting on their chest area whereas the males are more of a pure white. Although barn owls generally feed on mice and voles when there is a prolonged period of cold/snow (like we have just had) they may turn to eating small birds instead.
